CASCADE TWP. - An unusual story out of Kent County has a Cascade Township family thinking twice about opening packages delivered to their home.

Deputies from the Kent County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to a "suspicious package" call Thursday afternoon. What they found was alarming... body parts shipped from China. The sheriff's department says they are concerned that there are more packages out there with body parts that have yet to be discovered.

You will cooperate with The Glorious Communist Revolution in China, or we'll ship you to America... in pieces.

A DHL package was delivered in a brown cardboard box along with two other packages that were part of the couple's original order. Inside the package were items in bubble wrap that included a black and white label. The wife left the bubble wrapped items in the box until her husband returned home. When her husband opened the bubble wrapped items he quickly realized something was seriously wrong.

The husband immediately contacted the Kent County Sheriff's Department. Investigators have been able to determine the packages originated in China. They were originally destined for a laboratory in Traverse City and were part of a much larger shipment.

Investigators have also been able to determine that 3 of the 5 missing boxes shipped have been received. They also say 1 of the missing boxes could contain up to 30 individually wrapped body parts.

<snip>

Authorities have issued a state-wide alert to other police agencies. They also say the "specimens" are preserved in such a way that they pose no health risk to the public. The "specimens" consisted of whole or partial body parts and other internal organs.

6. DHL is involved:
DHL issued the following statement: "DHL is currently cooperating with authorities to investigate the nature of a shipment originating in China."

The statement goes on to say "DHL is also reviewing the origin of the shipment, as the contents appear to be in violation of DHL's service conditions."

Anyone who receives a suspicious package shipped through DHL, similar to what was found in Cascade Township, should contact their local police department.

"...and were part of a much larger shipment."

Weird how the article didn't mention anything about the lab in Traverse City, i.e., what kind of lab it is, what if any statements the lab made regarding the nature and purpose of the shipment of body parts from China. Seems the people running this lab have some splainin' to do.
