17 years since it was laid down!
This is another cold war project that just refuses to die.
Like the Seawolf class was design to fight the soviet strategic and attack subs, the Severodvinsk was designed for striking US Navy's carrier battle groups and fighting USN sub forces.
At least the americans had the good sense to cancel the Seawolf at 3 units and substitute it for a less specialized and (not much) less expensive design (Virginia class)...
Is the russian navy still stuck in a 1980's mindset?
Maybe something cheaper, with less firepower, but more versatile would be more adapted to their current situation...
