Homemade Weapons? Preposterous!!11!!1
On a recent visit to Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum on Miramar Marine Corps Air Station near San Diego, I found this display interesting.

Keep in mind these were made in a 3rd world country with extremely limited resources over 40 years ago. The US, otoh, has ready availability of high quality materials and high tech manufacturing equipment in home based machine shops in virtually every area. If the truth is known, every person reading this is within 50 miles (most much closer) of a hobbyist with the equipment and knowledge capable of making pieces far more viable than these.

So much for the claims of the impossibility of making weapons where none are readily available or too expensive.

2. If we only allowed toting homemade guns, issue would end quickly with severe leg and groin wounds.

And criminals wouldn't survive long with those things.

3. are you ready for a history lesson?
Before the war on drugs and crack made street sales profitable, home made "zip" guns were common among street gangs who normally used knives and tire chains.
With the technology and equipment of a 1940s bicycle shop, you can make basic sub-machine guns like the British Sten gun. How do I know? That is exactly what the Polish and Danish resistance did.

6. Fine, I'd like to see gunners hunched over trying to machine a gun to keep em happy.

Then, they can machine 31 round mags, laser sights, etc.

Put Colt, S&W, Ruger, etc., out of business. Then pass laws that anyone toting a homemade gun gets free rent and upkeep. How many Democrats would go that far to keep themselves armed -- not many? TBaggers, yea I can see that.

Hopefully, you don't see yourself as the "resistance" -- although some here clearly do.

11. Good thing I'm never "toting" anything
When I carry, I carry concealed, like the law in Texas allows.

17. Careful what you wish for Hoyt, you just might get it...
and Congress would likely have no authority to exercise any control over it as it wouldn't involve interstate commerce. A couple of states - Montana chief among them - have begun pushing back at federal control of strictly intrastate commerce.

19. Here is what you would see as a result of your efforts:

Here is what you would see for your efforts:

Drug cartels, and their gang distribution networks, would either purchase firearms on the black market or set up manufacturing facilities to make their own, just as now they are manufacturing multi-million-dollar submarines for trafficking drugs. The only people hunched over machining guns would be people forced into slave-labor conditions by the cartels and gangs.

Regular, law-abiding people would go unarmed, and would be at the mercy of any violent criminal who attacked them. The approximate 1.3 million victims of violent crime each year would be at the mercy of anyone stronger than themselves, as they would have no legal tools available to them to resist with without resorting to a physical contest of strength. The weak would be at the mercy of the strong.

21. "Put Colt, S&W, Ruger, etc., out of business." -- ahh finally
Now we get to what you really think.

Saving this one for later when you bring up the "my guns are fine" meme again.

8. "Nonsense" like if you don't have a gun or two in your pants, you'll be victim upon walking outside.

12. When I carry I never have " a gun or two in (my) pants"
When I conceal carry, I use a Fobus holster or a fanny pack made specifically for concealed carry, as is lawful in Texas.

You've got quite an imagination though and a vocabulary to go along with it.

It's not hard, actually.

10. I'm old enough to remember zip guns
There was little way to aim them and the failure rate was astonishing.

I was also a teenager from hell who explored homemade stuff that went boom.

this thread can serve as a link for anyone who runs across those who deny the viability of homemade weapons.

Anyone that thinks weapons must be purchased is living under a rock.

Firearms are simply are a bit more complex than most
