Elderly couple victims in double murder, son kills attacker
Edited on Thu Jun-23-11 04:12 PM by Common Sense Party
According to police, 27-year-old Doran Bloom broke into the home of John Feldcamp, 83, and created a gruesome murder scene.

The killing began when Bloom stabbed John Feldcamp. Bloom then attacked Feldcamp's son, Scott, who was visiting from Florida.

Scott Feldcamp was able to escape the stabbing and recovered a firearm from an upstairs bedroom. After Bloom stabbed Scott's 81-year-old mother, Audrey Feldcamp, Scott unloaded several shots from the gun, killing the intruder.

Audrey and Scott Feldcamp were transported to a nearby hospital. Audrey later died while Scott, 54, is still recovering from a punctured lung.

Quick poll: Should the son have locked himself in an upstairs room and called police and waited for them to arrive? Or was he right in shooting the attacker?

1. He did what he had to do.
He probably hoped his intervention might keep his parents alive.

5. I wonder if the gun belonged to him or to his parents.
Seeing as he's from Florida, and the parents were Illinois citizens, I'm guessing he brought it with him...but I don't know. Not that it matters.

And the son likely thought the nut would keep coming after him, or would go next door and hurt someone else. He was completely right to shoot the guy.

3. Of course he was right.
People everywhere should have the right to defend themselves, their family, and their property from the abuses of others, without having to resort to a physical contest of strength.

Three people here were on the loosing end of a physical contest of strength with a knife-wielding assailant. The firearm was the equalizer that saved one of them, and stopped the attack on another who sadly did not survive.

Anyone who can read stories like this and then say, with a straight face, that everyone should be disarmed just so that criminals can't use guns is out of their mind.

4. I agree completely. If all guns were outlawed, this nut still would have
had the knife, still would have killed the elderly couple, and likely would have killed the son as well.

7. What a lot of people fail to realize is that a gun is just a tool
A tool in itself is not evil nor good

It is the intent and action that determines good or evil
