6. The forum rules explicitly allow criticism of ideas
But not of people.

3. The AWB is anti bait made to attract Oprah, and reality show veiwers support.

I was a stupid law that wasn't even titled correctly if they must resort to being disingenuous to gain support should the law be passed?

....ID10TS that made up the name didn't even know what a assault weapon was. If they can't define a basic principle who to hell allowed them to define the law?

It was nothing but a bunch of morans who hated guns making up shit as they went.

"Well what else should be ban?"

Oh Oh "I know....those black things on the end of the barrels of those machine guns we see in movies."

yeah Yeah..."That's great, and how about those bayonet lugs....I've seen those used in WWII movies once."

"Not to mention pistol grips...those are real killing machine attributes...gotta get rid of those."

5. The AWB has no rational justification. In contrast, there is so much information
demonstrating its useless, feel-good, foundation-less nature that anyone supporting it would have to make a determined effort to avoid the arguments against it while simultaneously flexing their imagination to come up with reasons in favor. In short, it's a very very very bad idea, and not worth discussing...

9. Why any Democrat would support a repeat of such a useless, feel good law ...
is beyond me.

The assault weapons ban was just about as successful as Prohibition was in the 1920s.

14. People have varied interests ...
I know a lot of guys who collect tools and a gun could be considered a tool.

Those who collect firearms could live without them but why should they? Most collectors are doing absolutely nothing illegal. Plus firearms are often a good investment.

16. The connotation is that they are deviant sexual interests
And are both unnecessary and a hazard to the public safety , like baby raping . I would include baby rape as a communicable disease ,as the refrain "guns pollute" entails a pathogenic nature to a firearm wherein it can infect new hosts and reproduce undesirable behaviors .

As a daily practitioner of cowboy acrobat sex , I find the hate filled and bigoted remarks that malign my sexual predilections to be vile and offensive. And although they are a constant and flagrant contradiction to board rules , I fully support his right to make them as they are a valuable source of both humor and ridiculous memes .

15. Well, my thought is that...
...the AWB, known by the benign title of the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, drove me away from voting D from 1994 to 2004. Talking to others, I know I'm not the only one. You may think it's a shitty reason for leaving the party, but then again I think the AWB was a shitty thing to do to the American people. Go figure, life ain't fair.
