1. Explain, if you cam, what open carry and no-permit required had to do with this.
We're all ears.

27. If it means anything...they should have been carrying.

2. Even the Reuters article made a more plausible explanation...

"In recent years, some veteran riders have complained the Sturgis rally has lost its outlaw edge, attracting too many bankers and lawyers with top-of-the-line $30,000 Harley-Davidsons and not enough old-fashioned hard-core bikers."

Hmmm. Maybe "outlaws" had more to do with the shootings? I guess they couldn't afford to get to Vermont.

3. Dude - Sturgis is in SouthDakota
And Laconia is in NH _ although Wiers Beach (part of Laconia, HQ of "Motorcycle Week") is well known HAMC territory.
So, what's up with Vermont? Granted, Vermonters and outlawe bikers are kind of hard to tell apart.......

5. I know. Please note Myrna's reference to lack of licensing...
She pointed to Arizona, but forgot to mention that crime hell hole of Vermont. Vermont does not regulate concealed carry, and hasn't for years. Gun-controllers regularly leave out Vermont in their tirades against unlicensed concealed-carry.

7. Vermont never did, even when Wyoming was a may issue and
Arizona was fat chance.

28. Vastly different culture
Just because VT state gov't does not regulate open or concealed carry, does not mean that it is not regulated by social norms or the de facto regulations of private property owners.

32. True, but Wyoming and Arizona are more similar
and open carry is rare to non existent. Either way, I picture these guys caring about that as much as they do helmet laws.

8. Those that are stabbed to death by bikers are less dead than those shot to death.
Apparently Myra has never seen "Gimme Shelter", or heard of Altamont.

9. Don't know many outlaw bikers, do you? They'll just as readily stab or beat you to death.
Google the name "Meredith Hunter", or watch "Gimme Shelter".

14. I did omit that. I thought it went without saying.
I note also that the biker war at Harrahs Laughlin casino in 2002 had two fatal shootings at the time when all three neighboring

states required handgun permits. I suppose someone forgot to inform the Mongols and the Hells Angels about the permit requirements...

19. Did you not understand the implication of "just as readily"?
Seriously, you should read for comprehension before attempting snark, it works a lot better that way...

21. Don't get pissy, just try to learn from your fail
It's not something to be ashamed of - if you don't have the skills you just don't have them - but I think if you try real hard you might be able, in time, to deliver some at least C grade snark...

Quick, someone alert the VPC. Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware are enabling criminals!

Never mind, they don't care about violence that doesn't involve guns....

in Tampa.

The neighborhood was quite peaceful while they were there.

30. Imagine that.
A gathering of biker "clubs" (FYI, the Mongols, Dirty Dozen, Hells Angels and several other of what we would call gangs like to try and legitimize themselves as "clubs"). Sure, they might occasionally smuggle meth and try to kill one another with pipe bombs, knives, baseball bats and axe handles, but deep down they're just gentle souls, driven to kill by the subliminal and magical power emitted by those evil firearms. Abracadabra! You will now kill everyone!

Or the more likely cause-drunk biker gangs gathered together, someone said something about someone's old lady, a fist fight broke out, the shooter came back with his "brothers" and taught the offending group a lesson.

There's also no permit required to carry concealed, though the law frowns on carrying while under the influence. If only we could find a way to make criminals follow the law!
