Gunwalker scandal grows - CIA involvement to arm anti-Zeta gangs
http://thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/08/robert-farago-and-ralph-dixon/atf-death-watch-53-the-truth-about-operation-fast-and-furious/

"Between these two events: Operation Fast and Furious. TTAG’s contacts tell us that the CIA is behind the ATF’s decision to let guns walk from American gun stores. The Agency saw Fast and Furious as a way to arm anti-Zeta cartels. Specifically, the Sinaloa cartel. They worked with the ATF, killing two birds with one stone (increasing the ATF’s credibility in Washington and countering Los Zetas’ power)."

Here is another interesting tidbit:

"We now know that many of the so-called straw purchasers were paid FBI informants."

This thing is growing wider in scope every time I read about it. Several US government agencies were involved, and it's not just Mexico. Guns were also allowed to flow into Honduras via Florida.

1. if I had to pick a dog in this race
... well, I might shoot myself. But I doubt that "thetruthaboutguns" and its "contacts" would be my first choice.

As far as arming anti-Zetas gangs ... huh. That is the "solution" so many here propose for civil war / genocide around the world ... so I expect to hear applause for this move.

It always ends up biting us in the ass. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" only works until one of the enemies is gone. The one still standing is then still your enemy, only now you've armed him.

They've been doing this long before the Teabaggers were swimming about in some creature's junk.

10. FL to Honduras: old gun-running routes...
I was afraid of something like this: The CIA is sticking it in another agency so that it can accomplish yet another Machiavellian SNAFU to tip the balance, or some such shit. It's not like they didn't quash numerous DEA investigations as well, and let big-time drug dealer walk, esp. in the Miami area.
