Indiana boy, 6, wounded in Grand Rapids gun accident

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grand Rapids police say an 18-year-old man was shooting a pistol at a fence when he accidentally hit a 6-year-old boy Indiana who was visiting the area.

Police haven't released the names of the suspect or the victim in Saturday afternoon's shooting. They say the boy is from South Bend and was standing near his father's truck when the bullet hit him.

They say the boy sustained a single wound to his left thigh, and the injury doesn't appear to be life-threatening.

Police say the suspect was being held in the Kent County jail, and prosecutors were considering what charges to bring.
