12. Still I feel that we as gun owners need to remind ourselves often about how important ... |
|
gun safety is. I once came very close to being shot by a person who had retired from the police department after a career that included being the department armorer and also being a competitive NRA target shooter who had won numerous tournaments. He was holding an "unloaded" .45 auto in his hand and talking about the weapon with another shooter with the muzzle pointed at me as I was sitting on the opposite side of a table at the range. He demonstrated racking the slide and a round popped out.
Suddenly it occurred to him that he had violated several rules. His face turned white and he profusely apologized to me.
The incident happened while I was reading a magazine and I really wasn't paying attention to his actions. The individual was a good friend of mine and I just merely shrugged it off.
But now I am much more careful to pay close attention when anyone is handling a firearm near me.

7. True. It's wiser to break into unoccupied homes ... |
|
and wiser still to avoid a life of crime.
