If you're afraid of your constituency, you're obviously doing something VERY wrong.

7. Are they going to ask to see a CCW permit? |

Everyone has a LEGAL gun and should be allowed to take it ANYWHERE? Do you think guns should be allowed in the US Congress too? How about the White House?
I don't know about DC laws, but in NY you have to go through METAL DETECTORS in state courthouses, DMV, even the Empire State building observation deck. If you have a legal CCW permit, you still cannot carry into certain places, and the metal detector will show a gun when you go through, legal or not.
I went for jury selection in 2003 and one of the lawyers had a gun (permit) and had to surrender it before going into the courthouse. Not a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN? There were arnmed deputies there in the room just for jury selection.
I don't think Florida thought any of this out beforehand.

The one's who legally own firearms are not the problem.
As far as "allowed" to take them anywhere - we already ARE. There are just some places which it is forbidden. In my opinion, and the opinion of many others, a public building short of an actual court room or jail should not be one of the places where it is forbidden.
US Congress? Sure - why not? White House? Absolutely. Hell, until Lincoln got his worthless ass shot, you could go knock on the White House door.
DC and NY are exceptions to the rule - they illegally restrict the rights of the people.
FL has thought it out. Your objections are not really any different than the ones offered years ago when FL made CCW shall-issue.
