Al Qaeda slams Iran for 9/11 conspiracy theories
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/envoy/al-qaeda-slams-iran-peddling-9-11-conspiracy-183407514.html

According to the new issue of "Inspire" magazine--the English-language propaganda outlet put out by the group's Yemeni affiliate al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP)--Ahmadinejad insulted the terrorist group by renewing past conspiratorial claims about the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon during his speech before the United Nations last week.

"The mysterious September 11 incident" merits an investigation into possible "hidden elements involved" seeking a pretext for America's invasion of the Middle East, Ahmadinejad suggested in his Sept. 22 address to the world body--prompting an immediate walk-out by the United States and several European delegations.

And it seems that this was all a bit much for al Qaeda.

"The Iranian government has professed on the tongue of its president Ahmadinejad that it does not believe that al Qaeda was behind 9/11 but rather, the U.S. government," an article in Inspire's latest issue argued, according to ABC News' Lee Ferrin. "So we may ask the question: why would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?"

2. Are we to assume that you hold the good Dr. Ahmadinejad in
high regard as a paragon of truth, virtue and integrity?

Or is it the case that even a broken clock is right twice each day?

3. you might be talking past each other

I think we all agree that AQAP's statement doesn't prove (ETA: or even provide useful evidence) that al-Qaeda is responsible for 9/11. It's interesting to see them bickering with Ahmadinejad, but it doesn't seem very important.

6. Ahmadinejad proves nothing
nor does this OP. Maybe everyone should agree to stop posting these garbage topics? It's always a set up to run around in circles....

7. or maybe you should lighten up?
As far as I can see, no one said that the OP proves anything, beyond what it says.

So, why are you picking a fight over it?

9. The original article cited was somewhat light-hearted, and I posted the OP in the same spirit...
Not that there's anything light-hearted about 9/11.

But it did remind me of an Onion 'news' report a while back where an al-Qaeda spokesman was demanding that the rebuilding of the towers proceed apace, as they were getting anxious to knock them down again.

After all this reminds me of that x files thing where he says bring down a plane in NYC and tin-pot dictators all over the world will beg to get smart-bombed.

11. OK, we just reacted differently to the OP
I'm sure that is partly because we disagree about a lot of things -- but there are OPs here that I definitely construe as flame bait, more or less, albeit not lockable. I didn't think this was one of them. But, hey, on any given day....

If you reread #3, I hope it's clear that I was trying to head off a pointless fight, not to provoke one! OK?
