I am inclined to support the GOP position on the ability to let insurers sell across state lines |
|
and I am even inclined let small business band together to leverage their volume on pricing. I would even agree that doctors practicing "defensive medicine" to avoid law suits is a big contributor to health care costs and that something needs to be done to avoid the frivolous law suit (though I don't know what that is and I certainly don't think anyone but the court should determine what is frivolous and what ain't).
If any of that brings down the price tag of HCR and brings down consumer costs, I will not stand in the way.
But Mr. Republican, if we give you these three things...thing you champion What do we get in return? I mean seriously, if your market-based mechanism really solve the problems the issues of competition and drive down price and will increase availability and access then no one is going to need the public option anyway...right? So Mr. Republican Senator, If we add your remedies on the first two things you want and agree to work with you on the third, what do we get in return?

1. Giving them that market-based mechanism (as if they truly believe the free-market crap they chant) |
|
should be exchanged for repealing the anti-trust exemption status for the industry. And the addition of so much revenue from so many new customer for insurance should be used as leverage as well.

3. Too bad the Republicans did not push for this during the last 28 years |
|
when they were in power. We may have had a better health care bill than the one we are going to get. Unfortunately the Republicans were more interested in starting wars and making the rich richer than in improving health care and lowering the cost. It is easy to criticize when another guy is doing all of the work. If you are no part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Tell this to all of your Republican friends.

4. I don't want insurance companies competing in my state that won't |
|
comply with our tight regulations even if it would bring down premium cost. Our insurance commissioner has gone after companies for cancelling policies when people become ill. Now those pseudo insurance companies can't do business here. Why would I want them back?
