Any Phelps counter-protests planned?
I read in another forum that Phelps will be protesting
the funeral for an American serviceman in Opelika.

http://www.oanow.com/

I currently live in NYC, but I grew up & my family still
lives in the Phenix City/Opelika/Auburn area. I would like
to come down to counter-protest this travesty. Are there
any planned counter-protests in the works? Does anyone know
when the funeral is scheduled? Is there anyway this thing
can be stopped?

3. You poor thing.
I feel bad for the people that have to live to near that asshole.

When he drops dead, I'll be happy to protest at his funeral.

FRED IT HELL!!!!

5. Fortunately there's lots of miles between his "church"
and Lawrence. Plus, his show is on the road a lot so we're pretty safe.

I think the best protest would be to ignore his passing. Doing anything publicly will only give his cretins something to crow about. This cretins, also known as his family, will "carry on" if they're as brainwashed/stupid as I think, so the road show won't be over when he kicks the bucket.

I have no problem with people paying their respect in their own way at his grave. I'm sure my dogs have some respect they could give him.

6. how about a "protest"
held annually, like a telethon, to raise money for HIV/AIDs and contributions to a foundation whose purpose is to help fund those who are the victims of hate crimes. It would be held annually on the day after Phucking Phred dies to make sure it is eventually attenuated from him completely.

7. Yeah but one drawback
It'd be a protest haven for his family and the whackos that follow them as well.

8. His family = his congregation
I don't think they will continue the road show when Phred kicks. The family follows wherever the old man leads them. When he's dead who will lead them?

10. Evidently
the mayor of Opelika said it would be unwise for our criminal record to counter-protest this man, because when he gets locked up, he would have to lock the rest of us up too. Instead, the Auburn University political clubs (College Dems, Repubs, and Libertarians) are all going to raise money to donate to the family (wife, 2 kids, 3 yrs and 10 months old).

12. He doesn't always show up
I haven't followed this nut case very closely, but I believe there have been a number of times that he's announced he would be somewhere, get a storm of publicity, and not bother to actually show up.

We can only hope; people don't take too kindly to having their mourning interrupted.

13. I was there today
and there were about 8 of them and about 200 of us. It made me sick to hear their altered words lf patriotic songs like Battle Hymn of the Republic and God Bless America into anti-gay rhetoric.
As far as donations for this cause go, I don't know exactly what we're going to be doing. We're trying to get something organized between the us, the college republicans, and libertarians. If you want to donate to AU College Democrats, you can go to our website (www.auburn.edu/audems) and donate to our paypal account.
