Shamrock Foods funding anti-Prop 400 ads |
|
Anyone notice the fine print on the anti-400 (light rail ballot measure) ads?
Major funding provided by Shamrock Foods.
I know what milk I will NOT be buying ever again.

that too. Paid for by a jerk and Shamrock. I mean, is Prop 400 gonna hurt their milk business?

I mean, are they afraid the tiny sales tax to fund light rail will hurt their milk sales? I don't think that's it. I checked Open Secrets, which sheds a lot of light on what kind of politics Shamrock supports.
In 2004: $5000 to the ultrarightist Club For Growth $5000 to Jeff Flake $4000 to Trent Franks
In 2000: $6250 to Jeff Flake $2000 to Jon Kyl
In 1998: $2000 to John Shadegg $2000 to John McCain
In 1996: $1500 to John Shadegg $1250 to J.D. Hayworth $1000 to John McCain
Looks like a company run by right wing fruitcakes to me. Donating to the Club For Growth alone puts them on my boycott list.

I don't buy their dairy products anyhow, but now I have more reason to avoid them: wingnut-ism.
Okay, so I just looked up "Club for Growth". Here's the abstract from yahoo: "national membership organization supporting candidates who are advocates of the Reagan vision of limited government and lower taxes."
I guess I shouldn't need to read further.

They're that group that runs ads anytime there's a far-right Repug running against a moderate Repug in a primary. The Club For Growth attacks the moderates and promotes whichever Repug is furthest to the right. They're probably credited with the likes of Fortenberry in Nebraska and Coburn in Oklahoma winning their primaries, and they also supported that wingnut who ran against Arlen Specter in the PA primary.
Those ads attacking Howard Dean that said "I think Howard Dean should take his latte-drinking, Volvo-driving, sushi-eating, Hollywood-loving, body-piercing left wing freak show back to Vermont", were from the Club For Growth too.
