I am planning a trip to the Clinton Library in Little Rock |
|
Any suggestions on hotels? I've been researching the ones near the library and they all look pretty good, I just can't decide which one. I'm looking at the Hampton Inn, the Courtyard, the Hilton Little Rock and the Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown. Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks. :hi:

1. I think you'll like the Marriott Courtyard on Pres. Clinton Ave. |
|
Easy walk to the Clinton Pres. Center, lots of choices of entertainment and places to eat on the same street, farmer's market Tuesday and Saturday at the River Market, on a little trolley line that loops downtown and goes over the Arkansas River through North Little Rock. If you are lucky and come mid-April or later, you can catch a baseball game in a brand-new field across the river in NLR with a view of downtown LR and the river. For a small city, LR has a lot going on.

The Courtyard was on my list. I will definitely check it out because I wanted a hotel that is within walking distance of the library. And we do plan to get there the end of April.

2. If you are flying - - - |
|
The airport is close to downtown. I imagine the Marriott has transportation to and from there. If not, a cab ride would be probably $15 or so.
Public transportation is pretty limited - depending on how long you plan to stay and if you want to explore the area outside downtown, you might want to rent a car.

4. No, we're driving from Texas. |

So we're okay with transportation.

5. Well I completed my trip to Little Rock. |

We had a great time. On the way to Little Rock, we stopped over in Hope to do the tour of the birthhome of Clinton and there is where we picked up our Clinton passport! Lonelylrliberal, you were right about the Courtyard Marriot being in the middle of everytyhing. It is also very nice and quaint. Not like the larger Marriots. This past weekend was a literary festival going on so we were able to enjoy it more especially being that the weather was perfect. We took the trolley around the city and into North Little Rock. We also did our own driving around the city. We found the infamous Little Rock Central High School, the Rose Law firm that Sen. Clinton was employed, the state Capitol building. We also saw the Democratic and Republican party headquarters. Of course the main attraction was the Clinton library. Fascinating set up. It may be ugly to some on the outside but it was very nice and elegant on the inside. Before driving back home we stopped over in Hot Springs and saw the boyhood home of Clinton. The person in the liquor store across the street said that the guy that lives there now is a Clinton hating republican (we saw the Bush sign in the yard)I would like to go back to Hot Springs because there were places we didn't get a chance to visit. It's a nice place. We did get a chance to visit the fountain with all that natural hot water. That was cool.
Our trip was a success. It could have been a double success because we found out that Clinton, the man himself, was supposed to be there that weekend (earth day) but canceled because of a conflict. If I would have gotten a chance to see him in person, that would have made my day, week, month and year!
