Greetings, Arkansans! Traveling through question...
reprehensor and I will be driving through your fair state on our way from Texas up to Wisconsin. This is a gigantic move, but is not taking place all at once.

He is helping me bring up a decent amount of stuff in what we can haul in our Honda Element and Honda Civic, plus our cat and a 100 pound Great Pyrenees.

We are staying overnight in Little Rock at a Holiday Inn off 630, then overnight in St. Louis at a Holiday Inn off 55.

My question to those more familiar with the area: Would it be better to stick to 40 all the way over to Memphis, or maybe shave some time off by trying this 67/167 doohickie up through Searcy, Newport, Hoxie etc? How rural are we talking? Any clean bathrooms (speaking as someone who has driven from Waco to Mexia here and seen nary a one....)

What does everyone think? I'm assuming we want to stick to the roads where we can get decent coffee and pee the dog more outside a Denny's, but it never hurts to ask. :D

Thanks ya'll.
fsc and reprehensor :hi:

1. I would stay on 40. Routes 67/167 up through Newport can be 'hairy'. I consider traveling
that route more dangerous than freeway driving.

2. He he.
Now THAT'S what I needed to hear.

Define: hairy. But I think I know what you mean. ;-)

4. Hi fudge stripe cookays,
I met you a couple of Summers ago at the Holiday Inn in St Paul!
Since then, Starkraven and myself have moved to Arkansas (West Central, Ouachita Mtns).

Your move to Wisconsin will rebalance the Planet! :)

We love it here, but miss the North (some).
Don't forget to pack your flannel nighties.
Good Luck on the move. Ours was a pleasant adventure.
