Iraq Vet Fights Off Pizza Robbers
Source: AP

JONESBORO, Ark., (AP) -- A woman with combat experience in Iraq fought off a couple of armed robbers at the Jonesboro pizza business where she is a manager.

When the robbers entered the Papa John's where Rebecca Foster works, she pulled the ski mask off of one of them, while the other robber cornered a delivery driver.

The unmasked robber hit Foster on the side of the head, and Foster then pushed the robber. The robber fired a shot, which hit a piece of pipe and didn't hurt anyone.

The robbers wound up leaving with $15 and a pizza bag from the driver. Police are looking for the suspects.

Foster says that in the five months she's been back from Iraq, she has been in two car crashes, and now she's been robbed and shot at. In Foster's words, "home is more dangerous than Iraq."

1. Too bad she didn't have a gun.
Then maybe someone would be dead.

6. What a strange sentiment
Sounds like the robbers had a gun...so if they had killed someone - you would have been cool with that??

I am guessing that you are expecting this to turn into some pro-vigilante thread...hopefully it will. We need more people to stand up to criminals that put us all at risk.

7. No offense intended, but that was incredibly dumb.
With an armed robber and unarmed victims, you really need to ask yourself whether the pizza money is worth potentially getting shot over.

8. That is absolutely my take.
The manager was completely irresponsible in putting everyones life at risk by her actions.

10. I don't like to blame people for having an excess of courage...
Too often people are stuck in a mindset of just letting things happen. But in this case, it was pretty reckless. That stray bullet could have hit somebody. If she was defending something more valuable, like a pharmacy containing tens of thousands of dollars worth of narcotics and precursor chemicals, okay, you could justify it no problem. But a pizza parlor?

11. She just spent x months defending a lie in Iraq
at least this was something tangible.... her job, ans possibly her life.

she's a soldier and she did was a soldier would do. In the end no one was hurt, and the surveillance camera would have at least one perp's face in addition to his DNA from the ski mask.

if he had been armed, perhaps the second robber would have killed the employee, in the end it was a unsuccessful robbery, and everyone is alive.

tehy'll be cought, and she won't have nightmares about being helpless while she was robbed like I still do!

as the manager she would have been personally responsible for everything lost.

I'm just glad she's safe, and no one was hurt.

and it's not the value of what was taken... it's the principle. and until you have been in that situation, kindly shut the fuck up!
