What the hell is going on with Blanche Lincoln? |
|
Here's the response I got from her yesterday:
Thank you for contacting me about the Flag Protection Constitutional amendment (S.J. Res. 12). I am pleased to inform you that I am an original cosponsor of the amendment which would allow Congress to prohibit > physical desecration of the American flag.
Having met with many veterans groups and their supporters from across the state of Arkansas, I am convinced that a constitutional amendment banning flag desecration is necessary to ensure the proper respect for the symbol of our liberty. My father, grandfather and uncles fought to protect the values and principles that our flag represents, and I plan to continue to support a Constitutional amendment protecting the flag throughout my tenure in public service. Our flag represents democracy and freedom throughout the world, and any attempt to desecrate it, particularly on American soil, is reprehensible.
I appreciate knowing your thoughts on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance to you in the future.
Sincerely,
Blanche L. Lincoln
She is also supporting the 'Pension Protection Bill of 2005' (HR2830/HR2831) which will corporations to convert defined benefit pension plans to cash balance plans without regard for age discrimination. She is rumored to be supporting an amendment to the bill that will negate IBM retirees victory in Cooper vs. IBM.
I intend to repond to the letter above and ask why the symbol of freedom is more important to her than the actual freedom of speech!
I'm really getting pissed!

1. Ask her what she thinks about flag etiquette |
|
which states that burning the flag is the proper method for disposal of a old, worn, or tattered flag.

You CANNOT get a straight answer out of her to ANYTHING. Email her on any subject you choose, and the reply looks EXACTLY like the one you posted above. Try SNAIL-mailing her (with paper and ink and postage and all that happy-crappy) and you get a printed reply that looks EXACTLY like the response you posted above. Never, ever will you get anything back from her that is not hopelessly hedged in ConsultantSpeak.
Miz Blank used to send out her "responses" with a graf or two touting her "support of the President." I notice she has stopped doing that, but her actions since then are just as vile. Case in point: her support of bu$hler's position on showing returning coffins from Iraq Nam. That's the straw that just sent me writhing and foaming over the edge!
Here's the killing part, sinkingfeeling: when you respond to her, asking about the symbol of freedom, you are going to get another non-answer.
SIDEBAR: I have given Pryor The Younger some slack because he's new to the gig, but I'll be go-to-hell if it don't look like he's taking Miz Blank as his role model.

4. Yes, Pryor is following in the true DLC path. He's going to be at a |
|
house party in Bentonville tonight. I'd attend but image it's for the Wal-Mart crowd.

are far too conservative for me. Blanche has an office right across the street from me, and I'm forever cornering her spokesperson or whatever he calls himself and telling him what I think. Wonder if he passes it on?
I live in the fourth district, and Mike Ross ought to be a Republican - well, at least I think so.

6. hey i'm in mike's district too... |

I agree in some ways. He's a social conservative, there's no doubt, and that is really disappointing. But then he surprises me sometimes such as his anti-CAFTA vote.
