Is Paul Suskie a Democrat? |
|
Edited on Thu May-18-06 09:34 PM by ed murrow
I am an Arkansas native but unfortunately have been displaced to Washington DC for several years and I need to catch up on the May 23rd races that seem to be heating up in Arkansas and I have been playing closer attention lately to all the races but the AG race seems to be the most intriguing primary race for me and here is why
The race definitely seems to be tightening and I hear the local papers have been endorsing Paul Suskie...my question is who the hell is Paul Suskie? I mean I am shocked that I have no idea who this guy is and it clearly has stoked a curiosity in me:
My basic problem is I have been involved in Arkansas politics for the last twenty years and I have never once heard the name Paul Suskie...never heard of him when David Pryor was running for re-election, never heard of him when Bill Clinton was running for President, never heard of him when Blanche Lincoln was running, never heard of him when Mark Pryor was running...I checked, Suskie never donated a dime to any of these campaigns.
The guy has been missing in action from Democratic Politics his entire life and now I read in the paper that he was David Pryor's right hand man. I know for a fact that David Pryor has no idea who this guy is nor does any other Democrat in the state.
If Suskie is such a good Democrat where has he been for the last decade and a half...we have sent some of the greatest Senators and the best President in our nation's history during that time yet he never once attends a fundraiser or volunteers or writes a 5 dollar check??
Yesterday I was told Suskie voted for George Bush in 1992; his dad gave money to Tim Hutchinson when he was running against Mark Pryor and I hear Suskie is adamantly Pro-Life
I am sorry he does not sound like a Democrat to me.

to be fair I know everyone is young in this race but both McDaniel and Hertzfeld were county organizers for Mark Pryor's race
And I know both have been working and volunteering in Democrat politics for a while

2. Well, I've only lived in Arkansas since late '91, but I did not vote for |
|
Suskie. Here is the information site on him: http://www.paulsuskie.com/about.htmIt appears to me that the Democratic Party is more favorable to Herzfeld...I've gotten more info on him than the others.

Ed, you really should have come up with something more creative, because "Ed Murrow" has made negative comments on the Arkansas times blog about Paul since last October, coupled with positive comments about Dustin McDaniel (you can google that and figure it out). So to act like you have never heard of him is ridiculous.
Let me give you a little history on his Democratic ties. High School- Young Democrat, volunteered on Clinton campaigns College- UCA Young Democrat. As a freshman helped organize fundraiser for Clinton. Worked in both the LR and Washington D.C. offices of David Pryor. Post College- Field Coordinator for Democrat,Winston Bryant's 1996 Senate Campaign. Paul has also volunteered or held fundraisers for Mark Pryor, Vic Snyder, Mary Ann Salmon and many local Democrats. So please don't tell me that he isn't a Democrat. He has worked on behalf of Democratic candidates for almost 20 years.
Let me address a few of your other misguided points. The last time David Pryor ran for re-election was 1990, Paul was 19 years old. I don't know very many teenagers who hold positions in Senatorial campaigns. Also,Paul has never said he was David Pryor's right hand man and you did not read it in the paper- that is just ridiculous. When Clinton ran, he was only 21, but I know he openly and actively supported Clinton on his college campus. BTW, not to be petty but yes, both of these fine men know who Paul is.
As far as contributions go, I'm sure you realize that contributions of less than $200 aren't recorded on most sites that keep that information, such as opensecrets.com. So I guess you are saying that unless you can donate more than that at a time to each of the candidates you support that you are not a real democrat.
Your pathetic attack is so desperate that it is ridiculous. Paul is a Democrat through and through and hell no he didn't vote for George Bush in 1992. He was a Clinton man all the way. I hate to break it to you but Paul is a good man and a good democrat, so nice mudslinging but it doesn't stick.
I know exactly which of Paul's opponents you are supporting, so the fact that are on this forum propagating flat-out lies, doesn't surprise me in the least.

5. Don't like his position on women's right to choose, though. |
|
What's up with that? Is he just trying to avoid losing the more conservative voters, or does he really oppose women's rights to make reproductive decisions?

6. Paul Suskie is Defintely Not A Democrat |
|
DINO to the core
He is pro-life
Argued against collective bargaining
He literally has no positions that would register on any true Democrats' radar

Paul Suskie definitely is a democrat. He did not argue against collective bargaining. Simply another lie that came out of Dustin McDaniel's campaign. Nice try "Ed".
