Dumas newspaper on Pryor's support of Lieberman |
|
<snip> It’s bad enough that the system that got them elected all these years is suddenly not deemed good enough and they plan to try to gain reentry to office through a back door; but at a time when Democrats have the opportunity to gain ground and take the nation in a new direction, these clear losers want to wade in and muddy the waters against fellow Democrats. That may be pleasing to Republicans, who have their own concerns, but it should anger all Democrats. That’s why it is disappointing to see Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor to announce he will support Lieberman. Disappointing, but not terribly surprising. Even Lieberman’s Connecticut colleague Sen. Chris Dodds joined virtually everyone who is anyone in the Demo-cratic party, save for Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar, in voicing their support for Ned Lamont, who beat Lieberman on mainly an anti-war platform. It may or may not hurt Pryor in Arkansas next time he runs, but he needs to watch closely to see how the nation votes in November, especially if they hand people like McKinney and Lieberman their heads - again. Regardless, if Pryor gets within kissing distance of President Bush, he needs to run like a scalded dog. That’s what Lieberman should have done."

|
already warned Senator Pryor that I'm looking for a rich Progressive Democrat to take him on.

2. If you find one, let me know... |

I'll help. I would love to run myself, but I am not rich, and I think you almost have to be to run a campaign today. Mark is a disaster, and I'm not happy with Blanche, either.

3. I am with you - we need a real Democrat to run against him. |
|
What in the h**** is wrong with Pryor anyhow, other than not having any brains of his own? (only got where he was and is by being the son of David Pryor)
This isn't the first wormy thing he has done to side with the Repukes. I think he is actually a Repuke himself - isn't he a member of Fellowship Bible Church, a hotbed of West Little Rock Right-Wing Republicans? (No offense to anyone who may be a member there but not of the religious right nut-case variety - though I don't see how that combination could happen
Got any ideas on someone for 2008 as a primary opponent?

4. Mark is no David, and that is quite obvious now |
|
Many of us would run against him, it just seems that none of us have the money or name recognition.

is a vice-chair of the DSCC? That's the same DSCC whose mission as stated on their website is: "Our mission is to elect more Democrats to the United States Senate." www.dscc.org/about
Also this, from the same page: "The 2006 Senate elections will be immensely important. If you agree that it is crucial that Democrats gain seats, generously supporting the DSCC is the best way to do it."
I wrote to the DSCC, Sen. Schumer and Sen. Reid and pointed out the hyprocracy of letting Pryor continue in his roll as a vice-chair. He is obviously NOT working to elected more Democrats to the Senate.
I hope a good progressive Dem steps up to challenge him in '08. I'll work my butt off for whomever it is.
