Hubby received a letter from Asa last week. (Hubby is registered as an independent.) It seems that Asa's main "point" is that this election is all about the sanctity of life. As usual! It brings to mind the mailing that he got in Sept of 2004 putting the presidential election in the same context, with horrifying, full color graphics of an aborted fetus. It makes me want to scream! How can the republicans make the "sanctity of life" issue only be relevant as it applies to abortion? And, why does it work so well?

Unfortunately, I don't have to look far. I suppose I knew the answer before I asked it.. It is infuriating, though, and totally unacceptable to me that otherwise decent people fall for this same crap over and over!! How can someone care so deeply about the sanctity of "unborn" life and so easily dismiss the lives of the "born?" I'm afraid I may know the answer to that question, too.
