2. Pretty Close Now!
how ya doing sinking feeling?

I live in Ft. Smith and have for 16 years. Fayetteville is such a cool town. My dad owns some land there that he ought to sell because he isn't ever going to move from Colorado to Fayetteville.

I'm a social worker in a hospital based geri psych unit here. It's not as liberal a place as Fayetteville is for sure!

Glad to hear from you!

3. Hi. I've been in Fayetteville since Nov. 1991. I retired from IBM here and now work at the
U of A. My son has lived in Ft. Smith twice in the last 10 years...he's a restaurant manager and he's now in Fayetteville. I used to travel to Ft. Smith twice a week down old 71 to meetings at Cooper, DataTronics, Baldor, etc. But haven't travelled around the town for years.

4. Sounds Interesting
Old 71 is a beautiful drive, but it is getting a little long in the tooth as far as the condition of the road. The interstate really makes it easy to get back and forth.

Good to know other DU'ers are around!

5. About three-and-a-half hours south of ya
In Texarkana, SW Ark. Love driving 71 but it's a spotty road in places. Nice country up there south of Fort Smith.

7. Actually, quite a few people live near Fort Smith...
150K or so, including everyone within 20 miles.

But since you obviously meant to ask: "Do any DUers live near Fort Smith?," my more specific answer is at least two -- you and me.

13. haha!
how near to Ft. Smith are you?

and since I was posting on a state forum on DU i figured that people would most likely be DU'ers and since they would have to be donors to post here I was very certain they would be :D

19. So there are three of us from Fort Smith? Now what?
These messages to one another seem to be posted weeks and months apart, so I doubt we'll get organized anytime soon, but since it appears that there are at least three of us DUers in the Fort -- and several others nearby -- maybe we should not only meet to have dinner, but also to loosely organize.

There was a march in DC last weekend that I wanted to attend, but I couldn't find anyone to go with me among the Democrats I know around here. Maybe one of you would have?

You get the idea.

So Fort Smith DUers are encouraged to post a reply to this message next time you happen by this corner of DU. If we communicate, perhaps one evening we'll all wind up at Leoncia's or Rolando's or Calico County -- where we can start plotting how to take the Third District of Arkansas away from the Rethugs.

Finally.

22. Just moved to Rogers a few weeks ago. Its purdy up here.
Although, I miss the calming sounds of sirens and distant gunfire like back in Little Rock.

but that's fine. So do you go on to Westville to eat at Phil's Country Fare?

27. Nah, I hardly ever stop in Westville
about the only time I do is when I stop for Sonic...my wife and I have been working on a house in Stillwell, Oklahoma, which is about...27 miles or so from Siloam.

We usually cut through Sulphur Springs, Gravette, Decatur, Gentry, and Siloam before we hit the OK border....

Is Phils Country Fare any good? If so, I might stop by...I'm going through there in a day or two...I got a buddy that is house watching for us, so no vandals cut through the house and destroy what we repaired. I keep my bud up on supplies and what not, so I usually go down every two weeks to get him back up on his food/cigs...
