What books or articles do people here think best explain the CA economic crisis? |
|
I can obviously do the research for info myself but I wondered if people here had an articles/writers they especially recommend for their good work.

2. That was my first thought as well. We've been "shock n awed" just like any third world country. |

I can't think of any particular book specifically on California's current economic crisis, but I would recommend a review of the Enron heist, cuz that's what really did it. We went from a $10 billion surplus--all stolen by Enron--into a steep and vast deficit dive. It didn't have to be. And, frankly, I think it was all planned, to "break" progressive California.
I would also read up on that very weird recall election shortly afterward, with 125 candidates on the ballot, vs. a famous actor, and the "swift-boating" of CA Sec of State Kevin Shelley who was about to sue Diebold's ass, just prior to the 2004 (s)election. (I think the recall was a Diebold rehearsal for 2004.)
Somebody needs to write this book.
