Contacting Ken
According to one Web site (http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/cgi-bin/newmemberbio.cgi?member=COJR&site=congressmerge), this is the contact info for Ken Salazar:

DC Address:
The Honorable Ken Salazar
United States Senate
B40A Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510-0606

DC Phone: 202-224-5852

DC Fax: 202-228-5036

Email Address: None Currently Available
WWW Homepage: Not Currently Available

I'm going to send him a letter urging him to vote against both Gonzales and Rice -- for whatever that will be worth -- but I always prefer to send e-mail, mainly for my own convenience, although admittedly it may not have as much impact as a letter.

I hope he gets an e-mail address soon. That will make it so much easier to express my opinion to him not only strongly but very often.

2. Letter to Salazar
I just wrote this letter to him:

Dear Senator Salazar:

Congratulations on your election. We voted for you and are very happy to now be able to address you as “Senator.”

Now the most difficult part of your job begins. You must not only represent the interests of Coloradans in Washington, you must also defend the Constitution and fundamental American principles against an Administration that has shown repeatedly that its only loyalty is to power and greed. You must have the courage to confront this Administration concerning its lies about Social Security and its invasion and occupation of Iraq and its so-called War on Terror. Yes, you are part of the political minority in the Senate, and moreover it is a minority whose leadership has for the past four years shown a distressing lack of spine. But as Andrew Jackson said, “One man with courage makes a majority.” If necessary, you must be that man.

Soon, you will have the opportunity to announce your position on the confirmations of Alberto Gonzales and Condoleezza Rice. It is shameful, although scarcely surprising, that the Administration has nominated these two people for Cabinet positions. It is further evidence of the Administration’s cavalier disregard for fundamental principles of justice and accountability. Gonzales, in his callousness about torture and human rights and about the possible innocence of people condemned to death in Texas, and Rice, with her history of incompetence and lack of honesty and openness when testifying before Congress, should be expelled from the offices they now hold and certainly should not be nominated for higher ones.

We urge you to show courage and uphold the trust Colorado voters placed in you by rejecting both nominations.

Sincerely,

David Dvorkin

3. Grr.
I decided to try to get this letter to Salazar by some faster means. I checked again for an e-mail address, but I still can't find one, and Salazar's Senate Web site has a "coming soon" type message and no content.

So I tried faxing it to his DC office. Fax machine doesn't answer, and then there's a busy signal.

Senator, you're not making it easy for the people who voted for you to let you know how they feel about the issues you'll be voting on.

4. Ken Salazar's Office
Don't forget that Salazar is number 100 in Senate seniority and has not been assigned a permanent office in Washington yet. Your best bet is to write to his Colorado office. Jim Carpenter, former press sec'y to Gov. Romer, is running that office.

5. does anyone have....
...current or local contact information? i have tried ringing him several times and now his mailbox is full. in my opinion, this is not only frustrating but comes as quite a shock. why doesn't he have an email address and seniority aside, shouldn't there be staffing by now?

as you can tell, i am a bit frustrated.
