Are Dems in statehouse messing up?
In the news this week: Dems want to eliminate blue laws so they can sell liquor on Sundays, Dems working on overly restrictive housing covenants that forbid xeriscaping. Dems working on contraception issues.

Dems need to have more discipline or they'll be out on their tails like the repubs. Owens may veto some of this stuff anyway even though some of these issues are important to some people.

Should we worry? Or should we trust these guys, since its really their own necks on the line in 2006. Please don't mess up, Democrats.

"Its the economy and Tabor stupid." Record foreclosures and no jobs while arguing over the Ten commandments got the Republicans fired. Today it looks like the "new boss is the same as the old boss."

1. Be patient
There were many bills introduced during the first week of the legislative session, as there are every session. Many are trivial. But don't worry -- Speaker Romanoff and President Fitz-Gerald are focusing on the state's fiscal problems. They can't control what bills are dropped into the hopper.

The real issue isn't what bills are introduced; it is what bills are passed. The Democratic leadership understands that the Democrats' future is pegged to their ability to address TABOR and the economy.

Romanoff and Fitz-Gerald are very bright and savvy politicians. Give them a chance.

Lets give the new people down there a little time. I know a few personally -- I have faith in them.

3. TABOR will come
They can't jump on it first week -- the republicans are WAY to defensive right now...they are giving that a little time i think.

4. Since The Session is Only 150 Days Long....
...many bills get submitted at the beginning of the session. Most of them never make it out of committee.
