Joel Hefley may run as a write in?
That's what Oliphant and Harvey said on the Al Franken Show today. Seems that Hefley doesn't like Lamborn's lack of ethics and the polls show a leaning toward Fawcett.

Anybody got a link to this story?

Hefley won’t run, but blasts Lamborn campaign

By ED SEALOVER THE GAZETTE

Congressman Joel Hefley said Tuesday that he will stick to his plan to retire at the end of the year, despite an effort to have him seek re-election as a write-in candidate.

The 20-year Republican congressman said, however, that he will not back GOP nominee Doug Lamborn for the seat, explaining that he can not condone the way the state senator campaigned in a six-way primary.

“I feel that he ran the most sleazy, dishonest campaign I’ve seen in a long, long time, and I can not support it,” Hefley said in a telephone interview. He is in Oklahoma for a cousin’s funeral.

Neither Lamborn nor his campaign manager could be reached for comment Tuesday morning.

Several Republicans revealed on Monday that they have been conducting a three-week push for Hefley to take the improbable step of running as a write-in. The effort, which had involved national political consultants and elected officials, was a reaction to widespread dislike of Lamborn, party activist Peggy Littleton said.

3. Fawcett is currently a long way from the finish line
But what I can say, hopefully without being a jinx, is that Fawcett hasn't made any gaffes. Every time he's in the media, he just seems like a sensible, intelligent person.

Lamborn, on the other hand, is totally nuts. Of course, that plays well with the segment of the Republican party who elected him in the primary, but it has alienated several prominent Republicans (such as Springs city councilman Scott Hente) who have openly endorsed Fawcett. Furthermore, every time Lamborn is in the news it is for more of these intra-party campaign controversies, not for actual campaigning. Thus, everything is conspiring to keep Lamborn from getting his whack message out while Fawcett gets free air time to tell everyone how he is above the fray and not your average career politician.

That said, there are so many people here who would just never vote for a Democrat for any reason, it's still going to be hard for Fawcett to win this race. If anyone can do it though, he can. The thing that really grabs me is the prospect that a lot of Republican voters will just stay home instead of voting for Lamborn. *That* will go a long way to sinking Bob Beauprez, who these people would otherwise vote for, probably without hesitation. I think if Lamborn is causing problems for anybody, it is Beauprez.

Well, that's my take.

5. What are the two you think are GOP?
Angie is within the margin of error on Must-go, and she's nearing $1 mil in funds. Word is getting out that Must-go is listed as one oof the 13 most corrupt members in Congress.

Not sure where Winter is in the 6th, but I've been telling everybody I know about him, and that Tancredo is no friend of theirs.

Not to sound too confident, but I think Perlmutter's got the 7th in the bag!
