I so hope that this is Beauprez's "macaca" moment
The article heading is: Beauprez apologizes for abortion comments

DENVER (AP) - Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-Colorado) apologized Wednesday for misquoting a statistic about abortion rates among blacks during an interview with Colorado Public Radio.

Planned Parenthood and the Colorado American Civil Liberties Union criticized Beauprez's comment that 70 percent of pregnancies among blacks end in abortion.

"I was wrong about the statistic I quoted in a recent interview with Colorado Public Radio and I apologize to the African American community and anyone else who was offended," Beauprez said in a written statement released by his campaign. "I should have verified the statistic before repeating it."

1. "I am so sorry for pulling that stat right out of my ass"
"I know it stinks alot and all.....BTW, I am a racist dickhead."

Funny story about Beauprez...I got a buddy who works for DOC (Corrections) and he said about a month ago Beauprez came by for a visit.
It was in the late morning and said Beauprez and his cronies smelt like a bar, heavy smell of alcohol on their breaths. Who in the hell drinks heavily right before visiting a god damn prison?

This all smells of modern Republicanism's foundational wedge issue: Welfare Queens.

We're talking Ronald Reagan going around the country preaching about a welfare queen in Chicago who "took $100,000 dollars using 25 fake IDs." The truth was that she did defraud the taxpayer but they caught her after about $7000 and she only had 5 or 6 fake IDs not 25. She had to repay the money. And the idea that welfare encouraged people to have babies may be true in a very small number of cases, but it was not nearly as widespread as corporate welfare fraud which costs billions of dollars. Welfare reform means no more welfare queens, but corporate-welfare Jacks are in every boardroom in America.

Meanwhile we forget about the S&L scandal which cost Americans 100s of Billions of dollars. Now we have the pension fiasco where companies promised to pay their employees pensions but have sloughed that off onto the taxpayer while giving their CEOs golden parachutes.

Corruption and misinformation begins with Republicans. If this "mistake" is any indication, a Colorado with him as governor will cost us a fortune to fix the mistakes that really count. Republicans don't know what to do to fix America's problems so they revert to their most vile wedge issue.
