Jeffco mail-in voters: the answer is 59 cents. |

In case you want to skip the stop at the post office, I mailed my ballot, 59 cents thanks to the extra-long thing. 60 would be the safe bet.
Edited to add county-specificity. :D

3. This is why I hand-delivered my ballot. |
|
After I filled out my mail-in-ballot, I took it straight to the Adams County Election office and dropped it in the ballot box myself.
Cost of postage: $0.00
A little more peace of mind: Priceless.
I get the feeling the mail-in-ballot postage issues are another form of vote suppression. A lot of people think you can just slap a first-class stamp on the ballot envelope and drop it in the mailbox. Nope.
Actually, after some complaints from the Obama campaign, a lot of local post offices have agreed to deliver the ballots even if they don't have sufficient postage, this time only. But really, what our county election offices need to be doing is prepaying the postage on the ballot return envelopes.
