Central City casino refused to pay out $43 million win
DENVER — A Colorado woman who won $42.9 million off a penny slot machine saw her jackpot disappear when the casino said the payout message was an error.

Now Colorado gaming authorities are trying to find out what caused the phony fortune.

The false jackpot message went to Louise Chavez Friday while she was playing penny slots in the Fortune Valley Casino in Central City. The machine announced she'd won $42.9 million – a far richer sum than the posted top prize of $251,000.

1. why, do they make a lot of mistakes like that?
I would assume it's some kind of fluke. Give Louise a consolation prize (may I suggest $10,000) to smooth over the pain and keep the rubes from bolting, and get the machine fixed. That's life in the Big City.

2. The owner of Fortune Valley are bankrupt.
This is exactly the kind of shit the owners doesn't need right now - a lawsuit waiting to happen, and a new creditor issue for them.
