I just moved here from TN, although I spent the last three years in NOLA, and am a Maine native. I just relocated to Cortez waaay down by the Four Corners. Anybody else in the area? What's the deal with the local recall movement? (It's pretty obvious, since they repurposed the Repug headquarters the week after the elections.) What else do I need to know?:hi:

I'm in the part of the state that is diagonally opposite to yours; in New England we'd be four or five states apart, eh? You're in a gorgeous part of the state, enjoy! And if you ever get to this part of the state and want a good cup of coffee, ping me. (Fair Warning: This is where Ken Buck lives, and this county voted for Tancredo...)

It is a big darn state. I'm about 400 miles from Denver, I think! This area is pretty right wing, too, but after three years in Louisiana, it feels blue to me...

Every morning when I walk the dogs and see the mountains I know I did good. Still trying to adapt to living at 7,000' though, after living at or below sea level the last three years. Every day is a little better...

I really like being between the mountains and the high desert! As an archaeologist who likes trail riding in his Jeep, this is like the center of the universe to me!

I didn't see the replies here, so apologies for the late response.
Apparently one group of developers is pissed because another developer got city labor for their subdivision's infrastructure development. (The council members claim they were contractually obligated by a deal with the previous council.) Since the recallers have set up shop in the same storefront as the Republican Party occupied during the election run up, I am unsympathetic to their cause. I think they're just whiny teabaggers who can't accept democracy. In any case, there will be another election in two years anyways, and their bs is going to cost the town time and money.
edit b/c I replied to myself. Oops!
