Conn. won't recognize Mass. same-sex marriages
The state will only acknowledge civil unions and domestic partnerships from other states when a new law allowing civil unions takes effect on Oct. 1. (AP, 2:37 p.m.)

1. If that stands, it puts them in violation of the 14th Amendment and ICC,
doesn't it?

They recognize hetero marriages granted in other states even when the conditions for such marriages are sometimes insufficient for purposes of getting married in CT. Therefore, they will have to recognize gay marriages performed in MA, even if they don't perform gay marriages in CT.

2. Its time for equal rights in Connecticut
Forget 2nd class civil unions...Why can't our Democrats who control the State House & Senate pass same sex marriage this next session? They have the votes to do so..... Let the Governor veto it and show how she is not for equal rights. I don't get it, Whats the problem?

3. Great point
Would you mind posting it in the LBN discussion thread?

Maybe this is the political strategy, to leave the door open for a lawsuit.

Brilliant!

4. that sucks
I first thought it was positive in recognizing other civil unions... but, then didn't realize it excluded marriage.
