Defeating Lieberman.
I've never been to Connecticut, but it seems like you guys are blessed to live in a blue, forward-thinking state.

I just don't understand why Lieberman is so popular there. I would think most liberals would be disgusted by an individual who believes video game violence is bad but real-life, pointless violence is just great. Let's not forget that Lieberman thought it was hilarious when Bush made a joke about not being able to find WMDs.

I actually find Lieberman to be the most dispicable member of the Senate because, as a Democrat, he should know better.

Is there anything that can be done to replace Lieberman with a real Democrat?? Surely, there must be someone whose up to the job.

Lieberman will likely be highly-financed by his DLC allies but I'm sure if someone were to oppose him, DUers would be MORE than happy to donate.

Hell, I would donate as much as possible to a Democratic Lieberman challenger and I would even come up to Ct. to campaign for him or her.

1. I can't stand the guy.

He doesn't fight for my beliefs. The worse part is that he's masquerading around as a Dem! I guess Lowell Weicker is rumored to challenge him as an Independent. I'd support Weicker anyday over Leiberman. I'm debating whether or not to pull the lever for a Repuke just to get rid of him!!! Of course, I'm not sure if I can live with myself afterwards. :banghead:

If a viable candidate runs, I'm more than willing to donate my time.

2. It doesn't seem like anyone

wants to make a serious run at challenging him. The above post^ talks about Weicker but I don't know how serious that is.
Time is running out. If someone wants to run against him, I feel they need to do it soon or it's likely people will vote for Joe by default.
Anyway, I don't see Joe losing. Not at this stage.

5. We're not that forward looking
The Democrats of Connecticut are mostly not the liberal Ted Kennedy types. They're generally moderate. What helps our state is that our Republicans are generally fairly moderate, too - it was our Republican governor that pushed for stem cell research & also for public financing of elections.

In the big picture, things like stem cell research & civil unions are NOT hugely progressive. However, with the RW in such total control of Washington DC and much of the media, those issues seem really progressive when compared to Kansas & Intelligent Design or the numerous states banning gay marriage.

6. Some joker tried to start a primary campaign earlier this year
he dropped out because he could only raise $1000. Apperently he couldn't even convince his family members to donate to him.
