If Joe wins.... It is very likely he would be Appointed Sec. of Defense |
|
Sorry if this is a dupe. But do DEMs who may still support Lieberman realize that if Joe wins. It is a very real possibility that he would be appointed Sec. of Defense (to replace the horror Mr. Rumsfeld). Then guess who gets to be Senator…. Anyone that Jodi Rell feels should be Senator (with lots of hints from G.W and Rove!!!) So remember real independent minded CT democrats and Independents should vote for NED.
This could lead to the DEMS losing a chance at controlling the Senate!!

1. I think Lieby said he was not interested in the Bush cabinet |
|
Which means that if asked, he'll accept, because he likes to be on both sides of an issue. He'll just claim that it's too important a time turn down this offer.
Then, I'm guessing Rell would appoint somebody like Bob Farr to replace Lieby - Farr is a long-time state Republic legislator from West Hartford, but stepped down to run for AG against Blumenthal.

Maybe if hell freezes over and the Democrats win a big enough majority in the Senate where the loss of one seat isn't going to make a difference. I would say that would be at least 55-45. Or if the Democratic candidate for Governor wins which would mean he could appoint another Democrat to take Joe's place.
Poor Nutroots. Lying and smearing his opponent worked a treat in the primary. Too bad it probably won't work in the general election.

After all he's done this fall, you honestly consider HolyWarJoe a PARTY LOYALIST?
And nobody lied about Lieberman in the primary.
(Might I remind you as well that supporting an opponent of the REAL Democratic nominee is against DU rules?

4. His independent run pretty well demonstrates the extent of |
|
his party loyalty. To Joe, that means the party is supposed to be loyal to him -- regardless. He's obviously plain old pissed off that he lost the primary.
He'd take the spot, along with a big speech about how wonderfully bi-partisan he is, and isn't life grand in the Bush WH?
You know, when Joe's old nemisis Weicker left his party, he left. He formed a third party and has never looked back. Ditto for his Lt. Gov., Eunice Groark.
Joe's doing what Joe always has done: trying to have it both ways and calling that a virtue.

You mean no one's said that Lieberman is a sure bet to caucus with the GOP if he wins? No one's made the idiotic claim that he and Zell Miller are alike in terms of their political ideology? No one's said he opposes the morning after pill for rape victims? Nobody's said he's never criticized Bush? Nobody's said that he almost always votes with the Republicans?
Could have fooled me.

6. Why would Joe Lieberman prefer two years as Defense Secretary... |
|
...to possibly 18 more years as a US Senator?

8. that is my thought as well |
|
If the Senate breaks down 49 Dems, 49 Republics, with Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieby, we already know that Sanders will caucus with the Dems... Joe will enjoy having everybody kiss his butt for the next 2 years.
But, whoever replaces Rummy is going to inherit a terrible situation, and even the best person is still going to be under constant pressure.

9. He wants to be president or VP more likely and now, even more, |
|
wants to stick it to the state Democratic party.... If he gets the Sec. of Defense job maybe Senator McCain asks him to be his VP as a unity party type ticket.

14. But remember the reaction in the presidential primaries? |
|
He got a laugh, not any votes.
Remember "three-way tie for third place"? He couldn't even come close to carrying CT in the primaries. If he seriously thinks he's still any kind of contender for those offices (at least as a Dem) he's seriously deluded.

He'll never get the Democratic nomination again, and you can't win over and over as a right-wing independent.

13. He won't have 18 more years. |
|
This will be his last term.
He'll lose again in every Dem primary, and if the GOP put up a real opponent, he'll lose again in the election.
CT isn't so crazy about Joe. They just haven't been sold on Lamont altogether yet. Joe will be watched like a hawk from here on. And every move with Bush will be duly noted and disliked.
He's done, I think. Or maybe just hope.

Above all he has had the over-powering political gull to defie the will of the people.
Lieberman has no ethics, no sense of right or wrong, and no common sense what so ever.
He does not except the will of the peoples choice ,he therefore is of the philosophy of power.
He is indeed a turn coat and a power greed mounger.
Lieberman should be ashamed of himself, but he is not and cannot be ashamed -nor is he capable of seeing his own faults-or admitting even to himself that he is wrong.
Lieberman sold himself over to the power moungers a long time ago.
That master plan will be reviled and Lieberman is already cooked fried and than burned.
That man defied the will of the people and must be punished for his crimes NOW.
