Here's a good topic of discussion.
How do all we Ct. DUers feel about Chris Dodd's run at the Presidency? I have mixed emotions. Love the guy, but.........I just can't put my finger on it, but I can't "visualize" him as POTUS!!

2. Dodd & Lieberman
If Dodd is going to get some momentum here in CT he needs to say goodbye and distance himself from Joementum.

4. I agree totally,
but can he be in the same room with him??:sarcasm: after all they do work in the same place. I think Chris is smart enough to see the handwriting on the wall, and smell a rat when he see's one. He does have a very good sense of DIPLOMACY! That came through "loud and clear" in the transition of power from the Clinton Presidency to the Bush's. Especially at the Inauguration Ceremonies!!!

3. Yes, any reason you can think of why I shouldn't?
His Dad and mine were friends a long........long.......time ago. Seems like it was in another lifetime! He is of the same ilk as they were. Old time back room, smokin' wheelin',dealin', gettin' things done Democrats, who looked out for the little guy and the working man. Big time union supporters they were. I can remember my Dad coming home late many a night from caucuses with the Ct. Dem. party.

5. Why not ?
He is a good speaker, seems to be able to think on his feet. He is principled - trying now to restore habeus for example. I have no problem with him as a candidate at this point.

Its too early in the game for me to pick my candidate - or maybe "my candidate" has not announced yet. It may be Clark or Gore.

Other than Biden, I'm not ruling out anyone yet

6. I guess maybe that's it.
It's way........ far too soon to get excited about anyone. I don't even know whom I'm leaning towards now that Kerry is not running!:hi:

7. I think my cat
has a better chance of being elected President.

However,Chris might make a good candidate for Veep.

Unfortunately, he's got a lot of baggage from his wild, wild days. The Repukes are sure to throw the dirt at him.

8. I'm not impressed with Dodd
Yeah, he's a good writer, but I remember the day before the vote on IWR, he wrote a very good op ed in the Hartford Courant and then proceeded to vote for IWR.

Right now, I'm not impressed with any of the Dem Prez candidates. "None of the Above" gets my enthusiastic support for President at this point in time.

9. I don't really care one way or another
I will do what I did in 2003 and early 2004 and not support anybody and try to avoid the pissing contests between the various candidate supporters. When Kerry wrapped up the nomination in 2004, he became my choice.

However, I will admit that Al Gore might be able to change my mind if he announces within the next year.

One thing I'm happy about Dodd is that he has become a bit more outspoken since he announced his candidacy, as he knows that his only way to get out of the 1% range is to appeal to the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. I think early on in the process last time around, Kerry got caught up with a bit too much of the cautious Senate-speak.

That said, there are several Senators I would choose before Dodd, if they were to run - Boxer, Feingold, Levin... (I'd say Kennedy, too, but there is no way he'd run)

10. He has been taken the correct stance on the issues.
Whether that's him triangulating or not, who knows. He's kind of luke warm to me. Sometimes I can disagree with him but he's not no LIEberMe.

I really don't see him as "Presidential" material.

11. UPDATE: I watched him yesterday on CSPAN Road to the
White House. It was a Politics and Eggs breakfast in NH. They did not broadcast his speech, just the Q&A session afterwards. I thought he did a great job with his off-the-cuff replies. Very presidential indeed IMO.

I also watched McCain in Iowa. What a doddering old fool - but the Repukes in the audience were eating it up
