Biden, Carper turned their backs on fellow Delawareans
By ANDREW D. SLATER
04/03/2005

In an opinion column that appeared in the Feb. 20 edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Sen. Joe Biden proclaimed "some corporations knowingly defraud consumers and put profits ahead of people." Biden was arguing for the need to derail congressional Republicans' efforts to pass a law hindering consumers' ability to file class-action lawsuits.

His observation is worth noting considering he also voted for the Bankruptcy Reform Act.

2. Unfortunately we already know the answer -
The banking industry is Delaware's top employer. And then there's this:

"It would be naïve to imagine a politician who wouldn't try to reward his biggest campaign donor. Biden's relationship with the company is more complex than that. In 1996, he sold his house to an MBNA executive for $1.2 million. Is it also a coincidence that Biden's son, R. Hunter Biden, was on retainer with MBNA? Could it be possible that after eight years of wrangling in Congress, the senator can finally pay back the company that has been so gracious to him?"

3. I voted for both.
and sent this:

I am VERY disappointed on your vote for the bankruptcy bill.
Are you aware that almost 1\2 of the bankruptcy's are because of health catastrophes?
And why would you not fight for people to save their homes?
I voted for you, because I cannot stomach what these neocon republicans are doing to my country.
However, you seem to be not that much better.
Tell me, how much pressure did MBNA put on you for this sickening example of "Democratic" values.
What next? Debtors prison?
How about telling MBNA and their ilk to NOT GIVE CREDIT to borderline
people?
Oh, I forgot, there is no profit in that.
I, and many others, will not forget this blatant DINO vote.
If I wanted a republican to represent me, I would have VOTED for one.

Sign me
Disgusted.

4. So did I DiverDave, so did I.....
Your letter is excellent. I wrote as well but I'm afraid it falls on deaf ears. As a frequent writer I'm used to getting the form letters sent out to people on issues they agree with but I've yet to receive a reply regarding anything about which they disagree.

Biden, like so very many others in Congress, has become too entrenched and comfortable. I'm really tired of seeing these rich old white men who've "served" forever running things. Even signing on with PDA and other groups won't help me convince people that we need a complete change of personnel in D.C.!

I keep hoping younger people will catch on to their power and start a grassroots movement to change the FACE of Government! They could do it, too!
