Is Karen Thurman doing a good job? |
|
Is the FL Democratic Party on the rebound?
This whole thing with the election and not coming up with a solution to seating our delegates upsets me.
We've won a few House seats the last couple years, but I don't have the feeling that we'll continue to grow as a party.
Someone convince me otherwise.

2. The best I can say is that she doesn't suck as bad as the previous two chairs. |

She appears to be a little better at fund raising. She has put up more challengers to Repugs in state elections. However, she hasn't challenged the Repug agenda here in Florida. She is way too cozy with a lot of the Repugs. Her involvement in Florida jumping ahead in their primary date was a disaster. Still, compared to previous two, she's actually an improvement. Not that I think she's doing a great job. It's just that the previous chairs were so monstrously bad.

3. Does she still represent a Republican? |
|
I tuned her out when I heard that in her day job, she represents a Republican. Don't remember the specifics now. In Florida where there is duplicitious arrangements going on between the two parties and (and they think they're really clever about this) well, when you hear something like that, you would have to hit one out of the ball park to convince me that your heart is in the right place.

The Florida Democratic 'leadership' has been thoroughly polluted by Republicans who have all the power in this state. FL Dems cave, consistently, because they know to do otherwise is a lost cause and because they lack the numbers and the will to oppose the Rep majority.

5. In Florida, right now, Thurman may be the best you can do.... |
|
While a great deal if not most of the rest of the country slowly turns purple, blue, or BLUER - Florida turns redder.
But after this debacle, she needs to resign.

We won a few seats. Mostly low hanging fruit and people involved in sex scandals involving very young people, if not minors. I moved here last year from Texas, and I can say that the Florida Dems are about 5-10 years behind their counterparts in Texas. I think the hearts and minds of Floridians are shifting to the GOP, not to the democrats. I suspect tidal shifts in national life will change that, but I don't think it's out of the question for McCain to do better here than Texas this year. Unlikely, but possible.
