Officials in Florida want to ban skimpy swimwear
Officials in Florida want to ban skimpy swimwear

Officials in Pinellas County, Fla., plan to ban skimpy swimwear at local major beaches -- a move that nudists say could turn off fellow naturists from venturing to the shores, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Right now, skimpy thongs and G-strings are legal at the county's beaches, but officials say that allows beach wear as bare as an athletic sock held up by a fishing line on a man. The near-nudity on beaches such as Fort De Soto Park have triggered confrontations between the clothed and the not-so-clothed, officials said.

The stricter swimwear rules would "ban exposure of that area of the buttocks where the cheeks slope inward, the cleft region," the paper reported.

But Ken Kushman, the secretary of Tampa Area Naturists, said he fears men and women with less-than-perfect bods could be singled out for violations. Tourism could also suffer as a result of the new rules, he said.

3. They've tried to do this before, it failed.
There's a lot of old people that live in high rises and never set foot on the beach that every now and then come out of the woodwork and try to pull this crap. No doubt the anti thong crowd is spurred on by their religious leaders. If it goes up for a vote it likely won't pass.

11. Don't blame old people for this!
The seniors in the condo development in St. Pete my parents were in had to be cited for skinny dipping in the pool. And I'll bet the old men and women don't mind ogling young scantily clad folks at all.

I suspect the people trying to cover up the beach goers are the typical right wing idiots that always want to mess with other peoples' lives.

13. First truck nutz and now thongs!

Will the insanity never end?!?! Someone probably told them that there was a problem with crack on the beach and they moved to ban it for that reason.

But seriously, with the budgets for all state and local governments in Florida being gutted. Public schools and universities are in trouble. Unemployment is skyrocketing here in Florida. Yet, skimpy thongs and truck nutz are what these idiots focus their attention on?

14. We have some crazies here...they'll spend lots of time and money on this!
The voting machines are rigged, Charlie is in the pocket of the insurance companies and let's crooks run off with the money instead of prosecuting them, they arrest grandma for complaining that there is too much salt on her fries, property values go down while property taxes go up, the state speaker is making pay to play in Chicago look like child's play...

so...

we go after the bathing suits!

if Florida continues to elect these people then we are truly living in Disney Land!
