Meek: 'No opinion' on whether Rubio is too conservative
U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami went on MSNBC's Morning Joe to talk about the crisis in Haiti, but host Joe Scarborough managed to get in a few questions about the Democrat's Senate campaign and the bitter Republican primary between Marco Rubio and Gov. Charlie Crist.

Asked if "Marc Rubio'' is "too conservative'' for Florida, Meek gave a non-answer, perhaps because he wasn't expecting political questions or because he's gotten little sleep this week. "I haven't formed an opinion on that,'' Meek said. ""I know both candidates and I know they are Republicans. I've never been in a Republican primary.''

Meek was warmed up by the time Scarborough asked about Crist. "What we do know is that the governor has spent quite a bit of time even prior to this U.S. Senate race on the politics of feeling good,'' Meek said.
"I think Florida needs leadership right now, and it's very important that we get there sooner rather than later.''

Pat Buchanan then asked Meek, "as an analyst,'' which Republican would win. "I'm not an analyst,'' Meek said. "I'm a congressman.''

1. I just hope the repug primary is nasty & expensive...
hopefully they can bankrupt each other. In the end, while Rubio is probably more conservative, there are plenty of folks in rural Florida who will pass on voting for a Latino candidate. Not saying they will vote for Meek, but they may just stay home.

Senator Meek... has a nice ring to it
