The FL Democratic Party needs to reach out to people like this.
Republicans gathered to vent their disgust with Rick Scott. If I were the leader of the FDP I'd get their address and show up at their doorstep. Dems need to explain why they're not so bad to vote for. The time is ripe because so many Reps hate Prick Scott and the legislature!

BARTOW | Lifelong Republican Walter Davis is tired of Gov. Rick Scott's "out of touch" education policies. On Thursday, he made his stand against the newly elected governor and switched his party affiliation, from a Republican to independent.

His morals keep him from voting Democrat, he said.

Davis, an electrician for the Polk County School Board, went to the Supervisor of Elections Office in Bartow to make the change during his lunch break.

His wife is a second grade teacher at Chain of Lakes Elementary in Winter Haven and he staunchly opposes the teacher merit pay bill that recently was signed into law by Scott.

"They are just pushing things through up there in Tallahassee without reading anything," he said.

Outside the elections office, nearly a dozen people gathered to voice their disgust with the governor who they feel betrayed them.

3. Yes, where is the Democratic Party? Also, the teacher unions?
My local union just about jumped up and down for joy on Thursday because the senate offered to allow a 5 year window for DROP. I think they should have told them to shove it. I thought unions were supposed to be all for one and one for all in unity, but apparently in Florida it is get it while you can and screw everyone else. Disgusting, and to make it worse I will be forced to withdraw from the union next school year if this is where DROP is left.
