2. This line was really something..
"I twice selected the Democrat, and twice it indicated that I had voted for the Republican. I called that vote two times, and on the third attempt it accepted my vote correctly".

4. Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections
I'm so glad that SAFE got verified voting on the ballot this election. My only worry is that the votes about mandating a paper trail will be tabulated on machines that don't have a paper trail....hooray absentee voting!

10. Welcome To DU!! I Live In Nokomis
Good to see a local here. I worked to get petitions signed for paper ballots and Kathy Dent didn't make it easy.

Don't get too excited about the absentee voting.... there are rumors and stories and some outright statement made that they weren't counted last time out. I personally took mine to The Supervisor of Elections and made a comment the other day about it.

Are you aware that Bob Graham & Jim Davis will be in Sarasota this Sunday. If you want any details about the Rally let me know and I will PM you.

3. Gee, they should have called tech support -

>>A Florida felon can't vote, but he or she can own, sell, program and fix the machines that nonfelons use to vote - unless counties prohibit that in their individual contracts.
>snip<

And Sequoia workers are now spending plenty of time at the county elections office. According to office spokesperson Nancy Whitlock, however, Sequoia's training personnel are stretched thin across the country and are unable to train Pinellas' new elections technology chief on their products until December.

As a result, it's Sequoia workers who are providing the most sophisticated technical support in the elections office.

5. i am taking my 88 year old mom to the polls and have a question.
she has never used the touch screen machines and wants my help. is there any prohibition in my helping her? if a poll worker comes over to help, i figured i would tell him/her that i have the permission of my mom to know how she is going to vote but that the poll worker does not.

6. Not sure about your situation
but when I finished voting, I was told "no talking" when I tried to say something to my husband before he was through.

8. Ellen, There is no problem with you being there to help her.
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 11:27 AM by bear425
I assisted someone this week with the machine. Just tell the poll worker that you are there to assist her and they will have you both sign a form that says she is permitting you to help her. No problem. If they give you a problem, just call your local party HQ.
