From Scott Maxwell's blog in the Orlando Sentinel...

Jeb uses potty words - to Local 6

Posted on Nov 3, 2006 3:39:43 PM

Jeb Bush took a page from his brother's playbook today when he called WKMG-Channel 6 reporter Steven Cooper a "horse's ass."

It apparently happened when Cooper interrupted a Spanish-speaking reporter. While interruptions in such gaggles aren't uncommon, Bush was already a bit testy because of repeated questioning about questions about Crist's personal life. (I'm hearing that the personal stuff may make it into tomorrow's news cycle, perhaps even at our paper. But I'm not gonna be the one to get into the details here. And that's because I rarely think details about personal lives are relevant, regardless of what others decide. If it does become an actual part of the campaign, tho, we can talk about it more here later.)

You may remember that President Bush also got caught with his microphone on a few years ago, calling a NYTimes reporter a "major league asshole."
I wasn't there for today's incident. But Cooper, who's also an author of mystery books by the way, confirmed the name-calling. A reporter for the St. Pete Times said the governor later apologized in front of others.

1. I no longer have any qualms about Crist's personal stuff.
I've been barraged by his attack ads day and night. The Crist campaign is not going after Jim based on his stances on the issues, they're spending all their time attacking him on his attendance. Now they've got a Jebbie appointee election superintendent to falsely accuse Jim of not voting in the 2000 election.

Besides, Like I posted in the thread under LBN, if Crist was heterosexual, it'd still be news. He has a partner that is a convicted felon. He also slept with a 21 yr old that expected a job in his administration. Whether he's gay or straight, that is something that reflects the judgement of the person that might lead our state. I say let it all out, they would.

2. It's, as always, the hyprocisy. Charlie was against civil unions before he was for them.

Crist says he a "live and let live" kind of guy and supports civil unions. Which is it, Charlie? http://flapolitics.blogspot.com/2005/09/charlie-and-chr...

Charlie and the Christian Coalition

Tsk Tsk, Charlie:

A gushing crowd gathered to see Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist at Miami's Versailles restaurant Thursday. Members of the local Christian Coalition chapter presented him with a petition calling for a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages and civil unions.

Crist cheerfully signed. His office released petitions for the ballot initiative to the state Supreme Court for review on the same day.

___________

In an interview with the Baptist Witness, published on August 24th, Charlie Crist admitted that he had signed the Christian Coalition's petition. This petition would make both gay marriages and civil unions illegal in the state of Florida.

3. That and his stand against adoption by homosexuals.
No one who remotely cares about children would rather they remain in our pitiful excuse of a foster care system. Heck, most homosexual couples I know would make great parents. They'd be more devoted to their kids than many heterosexual couples. I say expose Charlie for the fraud that he is.

However, Jebbie has actually accomplished what the New Times couldn't. His insult to a reporter has made MSM and they are broadcasting about the reporter questioning Crist on the New Times article. While it's not the same as a Sunday edition front page expose, it is enough that many Floridians will hear about it.

4. if republicans lose because of homophobia, it's just desserts
as a party, they've cultivated fear and hatred of gay people for a long time. They've taken political advantage of homophobia by putting anti gay measures on ballots, making insuations about the orientation of candidates (particularly female ones) and generally whipping the religious right into a frenzy about gay marriage, gay adoptions and the overall gay "agenda."

If it comes back to bite them in the ass, good.
