Democrats candidates for Senate debate jobs, war
By Louise Chu

Associated Press

ATLANTA - The wide field of Democratic candidates in the race to succeed U.S. Sen. Zell Miller outlined their plans for shifting focus from the U.S. presence in Iraq to restoring jobs at home in a televised debate Sunday.

Many of the six candidates supported downplaying the U.S. role in rebuilding Iraq and enlisting more help from the international community.

"We can't afford to continue at the pace at which we're making investments in Iraq because that drains resources from right here at home," U.S. Rep. Denise Majette said in the debate broadcast by WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Businessman Cliff Oxford, considered Majette's chief opponent in the July 20 primary, largely focused his message on creating jobs in Georgia, emphasizing the need for companies to stop outsourcing jobs to foreign countries.

1. blah blah blah
Cliff Oxford....blah blah blah...
Anyone supporting him other than the paid interns?
And Majette....quit wasting our time like you've wasted the 4th District's for too long now.

I will say it again. Stop listening to the "liberal media" and actually look into the candidates. The only one worth anyone's time is Mary Squires. They say she doesn't have a chance, but then again, "they" also say that South Georgia doesn't matter either. Time to show them just how wrong they are.

No need for a panic, your candidate may lose..but so could mine!

The only candidate in the debate who made a coherent call for universal healthcare, the pullout of our troops in Iraq, and who challenged Majette on accepting special interest donations was Jim Finkelstein.

3. True, true
I had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Finkelstein last night, and as always, I genuinely like him. He's a very nice guy and is concerned for our troops and the citizens they protect here at home. I was, however, a little surpised by the flat out attack on Majette. The gloves are off!

Here's hoping that things surprise everyone next Tuesday!
