Why is this happening (Perdue)
Georgia Governor: Perdue Leads by Double Digits

February 16, 2006--Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue (R) holds a 20-point lead over two challengers who would like to replace him as Governor.

Perdue leads Secretary of State Cathy Cox (D), 54% to 34%. He leads Lt. Governor Mark Taylor (D) 53% to 33% margin.

The overall flavor of the race has changed little since our January election poll in Georgia. Perdue now enjoys a slightly larger lead over Cox than he did a month ago.

Perdue became Governor four years ago as one of the surprises in Election 2002. He is the first Republican Governor of Georgia in over 100 years.

How could this be happening? Perdue is horrible!

1. surely all the free "news" he gets from wsb-tv can't be hurting him.

hardly a day passes without some news story, no matter how mundane, featuring sonny "confederate-battle-rag" perdue.

yet, there's hardly ever a mention of mark taylor or cathy cox. i swear channel 2 news is getting more and more right-wing. even the local fox affiliate comes across as more "fair and balanced".

btw, channel 2 just did another one of their 30-second african-american "celebration" spots, featuring the white man who wrote "uncle remus".
UNCLE FREAKIN' REMUS???
:wtf:

3. I think WSB is 100% right wing.
Why else would they have Sean Hannity and Neal Boortz?

2. Diebold & Dixiecrats selected Perdue and will reselect the bastard

unless we Democrats get out the vote. One half of voting age people don't vote. We need to get out the vote among non-voting Democrats. Sheer numbers and absentee voting will be our only hope.

There is no way I'm voting for Cox in the primary. i'll never forgive her for Diebolding our state. Mark Taylor is my candidate.

Here in NE GA, we are working to register 1,000s of unregistered African Americans and we are urging everyone to vote absentee. No Voter ID is required. There are 8,000 unregistered African Americans in Athens-Clarke County alone. Our only hope is sheer numbers. We are not reaching out to Republicans to try and change their minds. It's a waste of time. All of our efforts are about reaching students, young people, minorities and the poor.

7. Hey Cotton. About those absentee ballots....
When we voted last Nov. we went to the Hall Cty office in Gainesville. There were about 5 people sitting at their desks ENTERING absentee votes into the same touch screen machines as you vote on. I've been thinking about this ever since. Short of having EVERY Dem in Ga. vote absentee, is there really any difference wether people vote on the touch screen machines v/s haveing some cty clerk enter the info into the same damn voting machines?

I said "all Dems vote absentee" because at least then there would be some piece of paper to count! Unfortunately, there's NO WAY you'd ever get ALL DEMS to do any ONE thing! The old hearding cats theory!

9. Are you absolutely sure that you saw that happening?
Did you report that incident to the Secretary of State and your local board of elections?

4. Do try to remember that Barnes and Cleland had double digit leads
going into the 2002 elections as well. Very large margins too.

I don't expect good things to happen while Diebold is still involved. But surely there is a way to outcheat the cheaters???? Are there no good Democratic hackers out there??? I'm not sayin'....I'm just sayin'......

And about Cox and Taylor, the more you hear (or sometimes don't hear), the less I like either of them. I cannot stand Taylor and will not vote for him. Cox is pissing me off daily by backtracking and basically doing a Hillary (talking out of both sides of her mouth). I will hold my nose and vote for her in the primary.

5. some choices, huh?
Hold your nose and vote for MEEEE!

That said, the race between the Dem primary winner and Sonny is bound to tighten up considerably. I wouldn't take polling this early in the game very seriously--most Georgians aren't really thinking about the race and won't until the ads start runnin' on the TeeVee.

6. I'll have no choice but to vote for the Democratic candidate.

I just hope it's not Cox. However, I think Cox might poll better agaisnt Perdue. :(

I wish we could get Jimmy Carter to run again. Oh, for the days of Tom Murphy. Hell, I even miss the "old" Gov. Zell. Anything but Perdue and the Republican state assembly.
