Proportional Representation...
Look at this...

http://www.sos.state.ga.us/elections/election_results/2004_1102/senate.htm

and this...

http://www.sos.state.ga.us/elections/election_results/2004_1102/house.htm

In 2004, there were only about 5 competitive races for the State Senate... out of 56!

Out of 180 State House seats, roughly 20 could be called truly competitive.

From a quick count, I saw 105 House districts where the candidates ran unopposed!

Now, having seen this sick joke called a 'General Election', how many of you would support Proportional Representation elections for one or both houses of the Assembly?

Also, would the state Democratic Party get behind PR as a legitimate electoral reform?

What percentage of seats have to go uncontested before we can say that democracy is dead in Georgia? We're at about 60% for the House, 40% for the Senate...

By the way, if you don't know what PR is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party-list_proportional_representation

and...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sainte-Lagu%C3%AB_method

The whole state of Georgia could be one large multi-member district, or there could be several multi-member districts... What are your thoughts?

I believe that PR is a remedy for Georgia AND for the Nation.
