Does anyone recommend a local Atlanta attorney? I was involved in a fender bender and now I am being sued. :eyes:
I would like to support a local DU'er if possible.

1. Try your insurance company |
|
They are contractually obligated to provide you with a defense. If no insurance, conult the local bar association for reference.

2. My insurance is doing a super job |

I have just been a tad nervous, and was looking into other alternatives, if my insurance gave me less then stellar council. So far the lawyer from the insurance company has been great.
It appears that we are still headed for Magistrate Court. *sigh*

3. Insurance defense lawyers |

They are usually decent. In big cases, it is wise to hire your own counsel to look over their shoulder. In a magistrate level case, you would be wasting your time. Even in a worst case scenario, your damages are going to be way under your coverage limits.
Good luck!

My damages are under $300, his about $1000. He is suing me and my insurance company. He told me the day of the fender bender I should admit guilt and write him a check. Since I was not a fault and have no money with which to write him a check, I declined! ;-)
I understand that my insurance company has him on a taped conversation with my claims adjuster being nasty and abusive! That should play well in court. I have two witnesses that were in the car, he was alone.
It should make for an interesting day at the courthouse!

6. Have you even been to court yet? |
|
He's got nothing until you go to court and then they find you at fault. You and your 2 witness against him means your side wins, period. I'd counter sue for pain and suffering lol.
And wtf is he sueing you for? People in Atlanta have too much time/money on their hands sometimes.

7. Still waiting on my insurance |
|
to decide if we go to court. They may try to settle with him. He is suing me for a little over a thousand dollars!
Does anyone know if his insurance provides him an attorney? or does he have to get one himself? But for now it is just magistrate court.
And yes, he does have too much time on his hands!

8. He has to get his own. |

I was involved in an accident a few years back and was sueing in civil court after being found guilty in traffic court. As the defendant, my insurance company provided me with a lawyer. The other guy had to go out and hire his own lawyer, which turned out to be his brother in law or some bullshit.
They say you don't know how good your insurance is until you have to use it. Best of luck to you!
What part of Atlanta?

but he filed suit in Fulton, since that is my county of residence.
Funny that he has to get his own attorney, certainly that will eat into any of the $1000 he may win! haha
This will all be paid by my insurance company, but it is kind of fun to watch this play out.

Yes there is all sorts of legal wrangling that goes on. Who sues over a fender bender? What a loser...
It's a little presumptuous that he is suing before you go to court? Sounds like maybe he's trying to scare you with his hotshot buckhead lawyer.

11. He has told me several times |

I just needed to write him a check to make it go away. He can bully all he wants, I don't have any money with which to write a check. And I don't bully easy! I pay for insurance, I am letting them work for their pay!
I talked to my lawyer today, she said we should get a court date in the next few days. If nothing else, I'll get the day off from work!
