I would love for Obama to come to GA to campaign for Martin
Assuming a runoff, of course.

Do you think that would be helpful or would it rally the republican voters to come out in full force?

1. It'd be helpful even if it didn't succeed in electing Martin
I'm all for focusing national attention on what's screwed up here.

3. Quite long, but arguably not much longer than many other states.
Mostly I just have selfish reasons for wanting the nation's focus on us for awhile. Maybe it makes another paleo-con Gooper governor less likely after Sonny Perdue's ridiculed, for example.

4. Perdue has been bad all around.
Are there specifics that you think might benefit from the focus of the nation? Our SOS, maybe, or to strengthen the party in Ga?

5. Few things jump out...
The aforementioned Perdue; some haven't heard of his Pray-for-rain solution to the water shortage

Our ridiculous voting system; I sat bolt-upright when I heard my county's "irregularities" mentioned in passing on Olbermann last night

And yeah, I would like some of those emerging county Democrats to feel like they matter. National attention would probably help.

anything besides our SOS come to your mind?

6. they're already schedule to grace us with their presence
ma cain for sure, palin trying to "schedule" it, romney and possibly rudy 911.
God help us.

We could use the national attention. I'd still like to know why early votes weren't counted and included in totals. What 's been going on here?

7. it could hurt both Martin and Obama
This could motivate the repub base to come out against Martin while only giving luke warm support to Martin from black voters here. It could hurt Obama by making him spend political capital and prestige here before he's even inaugerated. The repubs are bringing back palin and mcsame to the state to campaign for shameless. The better idea is to send Biden and the Clintons here to help Martin. The last thing we should do is allow these rednecks to get an early win against Obama here that will only serve to embolden their base before Obama can push his own agenda.

8. Sad but true...
I hate to say you're probably right about this but you are. Fortunately Obama seems politically savvy enough to have already spied the trap.

I'd love to see Cleland in Martin ads.

9. I would love to see Rep. John Lewis speak in SW Ga.
There is an nice ribbon of blue counties down here. I'd love for someone to come down and get the good Dems motivated for the runoff.

11. The Dems should send Biden, the Clintons, John Lewis, Andrew Young and members of the Black Caucus
to Georgia along with (former) Georgia Senator Max Cleland.

Perhaps Obama could be included in a TV or radio ad.

We need massive Democratic turnout here to combat the conservative (i.e. racist) white voting block.

Runoff elections usually have very poor voter turnout record here in Georgia.

17. VoteVets.org will drive vets to poll to vote for Martin
votevets.org.

Bottom line: Saxby Chambliss and his ilk need to understand that you can't get six deferments out of Vietnam and then question the patriotism of an American hero and get away with it. Let's not let this one go. Saxby Chambliss said Max Cleland, a Vietnam vet and triple amputee, didn't have the courage to lead:

The same Saxby Chambliss is now engaged in a runoff election against a battle buddy of Max Cleland: Vietnam Vet and VoteVets.org endorsed candidate Jim Martin.

The key to winning runoff elections is turnout. Whatever donation you can spare to help us get to our goal of $1,000 will help get out the vote in Georgia. A $20 donation can be used to buy half a tank of gas to drive car loads of Vets to the polls for Jim Martin. Lets get enough votes out to show all of Washington that Veterans will not tolerate the radical anti-troop, anti-Veteran agenda of elected officials like Saxby Chambliss.
