Dems and door-to-door solicitations...??? |
|
Last night as I was cooking dinner, the doorbell rang. The porch light was off, it was cold and dark out and once again, I found a young person asking for donations for the Democratic party of Georgia. It always seems to be on a cold or rainy night at dinner time. She gave me her speech and was pleased to learn she had at least stumbled upon a fellow Democrat. But I explained that I don't give money out at the door. (I have done so in the past but not any more.) I told her I would be happy to make an online contribution but she said that she would not "get credit" for that and the money would not go toward this grassroots effort. She needed the money right then.
I find this suspect and have written to some party people to ask about it. For the most part, I am on email lists for plenty of organizations and I usually get some notice of events that are happening at the time.
I cannot imagine a group out there without even a paypal account for this sort of thing.
Do any of you know anything about this?

1. I'm curious if you ever got a response from the Dem hdqrtrs. This |
|
evening soliciting sounds sort of fishy to me, too.

2. Yes. Supposedly this was a newbie to this kind of |
|
soliciting.
*I* still think it does more harm than good to approach people this way and *I* would be concerned for this person's safety.
ZERO explanation as to why they would not offer a website for donations.
