The snow is falling hard

I'd like to think that nature is angry about suffering another business racketeer and sorry rethug governor for another 4 years, along with a mostly rethug assembly and too many democratic turncoats to help them screw the masses in favor of their rich benefactors. :hide:

We got about 6-7 inches! I've never seen snow like this, been in and out in it all morning. I made the mistake of trying to go out on the hiking trails with my dog, lol. I need some snow shoes for this stuff.

How much did you guys get?

4. The inability to clear the roads DAYS after the snowfall has me thinking about tax cuts....

Nathan Deal's first priority, as he said several weeks ago, was to enact another tax cut for businesses.

I saw on the news that this years budget has already been spent on snow and ice removal, yet the roads are still in horrible shape. A truck driver on the news said that roads in neighboring states were in much better condition, as soon as he hit the Georgia state line the roads were unsafe. Most businesses (my place of employment included) are looking at a third (and likely fourth) day of being shut down because employees can't safely get to work, and my kids will likely miss an entire week of school. Gee govenor Deal, do you still think cutting budgets yet again is a good idea?

5. I was thinking about this too, but you can't really plan for this...

people have been critical of Mayor Reed but when it comes down to it, should money be spent on trucks that *might* be needed on such a weather rarity?

On the other hand, the money lost by businesses and spent on ice removal is adding up. What's the answer?

I agree with you, though, tax cuts are not the answer!

The VERY FIRST public pronouncements out of Nathan Deal's mouth were that he would cut taxes for businesses - while our schools are falling further and further behind, while our streets go unplowed for days, while our infrastructure is falling apart....... It just seems very short sighted to be making tax cuts (especially tax cuts which will once again largely benefit the wealthy) when our state budget is in such bad shape.

8. Speaking of tax cuts

rather, cuts on business and income taxes, they're looking to add a grocery tax and other consumption taxes as an end around to avoid tax hikes. It might happen since the weather troubles have taken the majority of severely cut state agency budgets.

Looks like standard GOP procedure--the people get to pay, the rich take the money and run away. :eyes:
