Gwinnett County minority
I'm a dem living in Gwinnett County (like I said, a minority). I've tried to locate a democratic headquarters office in my county, to no avail. Does anyone know of a Kerry campaign headquarters around here?

Because my partner attends UGA and I work near Atlanta, we decided to find a home somewhere in between to live - almost picked Barrow county, but decided on a place in Gwinnett (great landlord, great house, quiet neighboorhood). I sort of wish, now, that I had known a little more about the area, because the traffic here is horrendous 7 days a week, and the political and religious environment is stifling and nearly intolerable at times.

Anyone else out there from this county? I'd sure like to meet some friendly, democratic folks.

1. Keep asking
Welcome Impeach! There are a lot of good folks on here from Georgia who'll be able to help you out. Too bad you can't move to Athens. Hopefully, when your partner gets through with you school both of you will find some place more accomodating. Mid-town/Highland are certainly more progressive/open minded than Gwinnett. I wish I could help directly, but all I am able to do is offer my support. Good luck!

2. Hey ImpeachBush!
I'm Gwinnett too, so I certainly feel your pain. Wish I could move back to Mid-town/Highlands but that can't happen until the kids are through high school ... can't afford it!

The wife and I are thinking of moving elsewhere, largely because of these cultural issues. If Bush is re-selected, elsewhere might be rather far away ... but I digress. In the meantime, we Gwinnett dems need to stick together. I don't know where headquarters is ... maybe we can find out by searching on the Kerry site?

4. Hi Impeach Bush!
On the bright side, your situation could be worse: you could have chosen to live in Barrow County. Barrow is much less progressive than Gwinett and the traffic is just as bad. It's sad, but true.

I had to do the same thing when we moved out the sticks from inner Dallas.

I just did a google search for the county name and Democrats. It sure does help with a sense of community!

5. I work in Gwinnett 2 days a week.
You just need to come into the city more on the weekends and plan to get the hell out of there when your partner finishes school.

7. My son and daughter-in-law live in Gwinnett
If you want to PM me with contact details I'll pass the info along to him. How old are you? Steve turns 33 in a couple of weeks -- not that that matters all that much since he's always had the knack, since he was a toddler, of making friends with ALL ages. Terrific guy, even if I do say so myself. :-)

They stay pretty busy and aren't all that political, but I'm sure he'd like more like-minded friends in Gwinnett.
