Senator Barak Obama to speak here Dec 16 |
|
November 28, 2004 SENATOR BARAK OBAMA TO SPEAK IN WAIKIKI
Democratic Party of Hawaii Chairman Brickwood Galuteria today announced an upcoming fundraising event featuring U.S. Senator Barak Obama. The event, “A Night of Aloha with Senator Barak Obama,” will take place at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom on December 16, 2004 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“It’s a great honor for Hawaii residents to have this chance to hear directly from Senator Obama, who is considered a major political player on the national level,” said Galuteria.
Senator Obama, 42, represents Illinois’ 13th Senate District on Chicago’s South Side. Raised in Hawaii, Senator Obama is a 1979 graduate of Punahou Schools. He’s been recognized for his innovative, effective leadership and has spent a lifetime fighting to empower working families and the poor. Senator Obama has brought new ideas and approaches in pursuit of traditional Democratic ideals to make a real difference for people -- from better schools to affordable health care to criminal justice reform.
Galuteria said, “Barak Obama is a fine example of a person brought up in Hawaii reaching the highest level of achievements.”
Senator Obama is expected to greet the crowd from 5:45 p.m. until the start of the program at 6:45 p.m. The end of the program kicks off the “Democratic Holiday Party,” until 10:00 p.m.
Cost per ticket is $100 and sold at party headquarters – 770 Kapiolani Blvd. Suite 115. All proceeds go to the Democratic Party of Hawaii. For more information on this event go on-line to www.hawaiidemocrats.org

1. How unlike the S-B to screw up the name "Barack" (with a 'c') |
|
I was pretty sure it was Brickwood's goof, not yours, until I saw the article in today's S-B, also with "Barak", so it's theirs.
It would almost be worth a hundred bucks to get the chance to ask him how he was able to beat the odds and eke out a victory against Illinois icon Alan Keyes :-)

If he is on vacation, I will scope out Waikiki beach just to get his photo and/or autograph.
